Charitable initiatives carried out during Ramadan have reached thousands of beneficiaries across Bahrain, reinforcing the spirit of solidarity that defines the holy month.

Shaikh Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed bin Futtais Al Hajri, Chairman of the Sunni Endowments Council, said the General Directorate of Sunni Endowments implemented several humanitarian projects throughout Ramadan aimed at strengthening social support within the community.

Among the most prominent initiatives was the food assistance programme, which supported 200 families through vouchers for essential groceries provided in cooperation with a local supermarket. Another project, titled Ramadan Meals, or “Iftar for a Family,” benefited 600 families through similar food vouchers designed to help households meet their needs during the fasting month.

Children were also at the heart of the initiatives. The Eid clothing project aims to bring joy to 1,000 children by providing vouchers that allow families to purchase new Eid outfits, ensuring that many young beneficiaries can celebrate the holiday with happiness and dignity.

The directorate also organised the Iftar for Fasting People programme for expatriate communities, providing daily meals for around 2,000 fasting individuals in cooperation with community centres.

Another large initiative focused on water distribution. Through the “Water of Sabeel” project, nearly one million bottles of water, equivalent to around 40,000 cartons, were distributed to mosques across the Kingdom throughout Ramadan.

In addition, the council supported ten charitable societies as part of a broader community partnership initiative, helping strengthen cooperation between charitable organisations and expand the reach of Ramadan programmes.

Shaikh Dr Al Hajri stressed that these efforts reflect the council’s commitment to fulfilling the intentions of donors and directing endowment revenues to their rightful charitable purposes, reinforcing the values of giving and social solidarity during the holy month.
