Dr. Mariam Aissa Al-Khayyat Shines at 2nd Annual Research Day for Surgery and Ophthalmology

Dr. Mariam Aissa Al-Khayyat, a prominent ophthalmologist at government hospitals and a fellow in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, achieved second place at the 2nd Annual Research Day for Surgery and Ophthalmology. The prestigious event, hosted at the Graduate Studies Center in Riyadh, was organized under the auspices of the Health Affairs of the Ministry of National Guard, emphasizing the latest advancements and modern techniques in treating eye diseases.

Dr. Al-Khayyat distinguished herself with her groundbreaking research titled "Surgical Outcome of Duane Retraction Syndrome." Her innovative work garnered widespread acclaim from both the judging panel and attendees, highlighting her commitment to advancing the field of ophthalmology.

Expressing her gratitude for the recognition, Dr. Al-Khayyat stated, “This award reflects the diligent efforts being made in the field of scientific research and development in surgery and ophthalmology.” She emphasized the vital role that continuous support from government hospitals and research institutions plays in fostering innovation and enhancing the quality of healthcare in the Kingdom.

Her research was conducted under the mentorship of esteemed professionals, including Dr. Saif Al-Absi, the head of the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Fellowship Program in Saudi Arabia, and Dr. Shahd Al-Fraihi, the head of the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Department at King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital.
