Values of tolerance, knowledge stressed
Higher Education Council (HEC) Secretary-General Dr. Riadh Youssef Hamza stressed the importance of instilling the values of tolerance and moderation among young generations and equip them with knowledge to contribute to their country’s national-building process.
He was speaking at the conference of the Islamic Cultural, Educational and Scientific Conference Organisation (ICESCO), which was held under the Azeri President Ilham Aliyev in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Deputised by Education Minister Dr. Majlid bin Ali Al Nuaimi, Hamza has led Bahrain’s delegation to the conference.
Addressing the session, Dr. Hamza stressed the importance of the event, which follows the 38th conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in South Korea.
He urged UNESCO – ICESCO cooperation to implement the declaration, which was reached at Incheon, South Korea on optimising the use of information and telecommunication technologies in education and linking education with development needs.
He underlined the need of protecting educational institutions from the acts of sabotage and terrorism and maintain security to enable educational facilities to play their role.
