U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas have both approved the first phase of what he described as a “Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace Plan” for Gaza.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated:

“This means that ALL of the hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their troops to an agreed-upon line as the first steps toward peace. All parties will be treated fairly!”

He praised the efforts of mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, calling the development a “great day for the Arab and Muslim world, Israel, all surrounding nations, and the United States.”

According to the White House, Trump is considering a visit to the Middle East in the coming days to further discussions on the peace process.

The announcement follows intensive mediation efforts in Sharm El-Sheikh by U.S., Egyptian, and Qatari diplomats seeking to broker a ceasefire in Gaza and secure the release of remaining Israeli hostages.

The negotiations come two years and two days after Israel launched its military campaign in Gaza, following the October 7, 2023 attack, in which Hamas-led gunmen killed around 1,200 people and abducted 251 hostages.

Since then, Israeli military operations have killed at least 67,183 people in Gaza, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
