Car Towed with Child Inside: Driver Faces Investigation

Manama: The Public Prosecution has taken a firm stance against violations related to student transportation by detaining a driver for allegedly forgetting a child in his unlicensed car, endangering her life.

According to the Family and Child Prosecution Office, the incident occurred when the driver, who was transporting students from school, failed to check his car after dropping them off. The car broke down and a tow truck took it away with the child still inside, asleep. The driver admitted to negligence, stating he didn't ensure the car was empty before calling the tow truck. He discovered the child was still in the vehicle only after receiving a call and stopping the tow truck.

The Public Prosecution has launched an investigation and ordered the driver's pretrial detention. The prosecution urges parents to use licensed drivers and vehicles that follow safety guidelines, including checking that buses and vehicles are empty after drop-offs. The prosecution emphasises verifying student safety to prevent such incidents and protect the lives of children.
