Over BD 76,000 Worth of Drugs Seized in Joint Operation at Bahrain Airport
Bahrain’s Customs Affairs and the Anti-Narcotics Directorate have foiled an attempt to smuggle over BD 76,000 worth of illegal drugs into the country.
The joint operation led to the arrest of several individuals of Asian nationality after more than 11 kilograms of narcotics were discovered. The first breakthrough came when the Airport Customs Department identified over 5 kilograms of drugs hidden in the luggage of a passenger arriving in Bahrain. The case was immediately referred to the Anti-Narcotics Directorate.
Following investigations and surveillance, officers arrested five more suspects already inside the country. Authorities seized an additional 6 kilograms of drugs from their possession.
The Anti-Narcotics Directorate confirmed that all legal procedures were followed, and the case has been referred to the Public Prosecution for further action.
Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science stressed the importance of community partnership in raising awareness about drug prevention. They continue to organize lectures and exhibitions across the Kingdom to educate the public.
