12 crews battle blaze at under-construction complex in Kuwait

Kuwait City : Twelve teams of 180 fire-fighters, took part in putting out the fire that broke out in an under-construction building in Sharq area, causing injury to three of them, Kuwait’s Fire Public Relations Department has said.

A statement by the administration said the operation centre received a call at 3:30 pm reporting a fire in an under-construction building over an area spreading to 380,000 square meters, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) said.

The statement noted that the biggest challenge fire-fighters faced was to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings or areas that were nearby, even though the fire reached eight buildings due to high winds.

Fire-fighters, including teams from Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), were at the scene to enforce efforts to put out the blaze.

Huge material damage has occurred and a final estimate on the losses will be calculated following the investigation into the causes of the fire.
Director of Public Relations and Information at the fire department Colonel Khalil Al-Amir expressed his thanks and appreciation to all who participated in putting out the fire, including those from the Interior ministry and fire-fighters from the National Guard, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Information.
