WHO says another warehouse affected by attack in Ukraine

Geneva, Switzerland: The World Health Organization said Friday that an overnight air attack in Kyiv Oblast affected one of its main warehouses storing humanitarian medical supplies. 

The strike marks the third incident damaging a WHO-used facility in Ukraine over the past three months.

Access to the Kyiv site remains restricted due to heavy smoke and safety concerns while assessments of stock losses continue. 

No WHO personnel were affected in the attack, spokesman Christian Lindmeier confirmed.

The agency warned that the strike reflects a broader pattern impacting humanitarian operations across Ukraine. In 2026, at least 20 attacks have struck warehouses storing humanitarian goods, including 15 holding medical supplies.

Earlier strikes damaged a Kyiv Oblast warehouse in July and destroyed a Dnipro facility two weeks ago, resulting in the loss of half the medical supplies intended to support 225,000 people.

Lindmeier emphasized that all WHO locations are deconflicted and clearly communicated to all sides in the conflict. The WHO has verified more than 3,000 attacks on healthcare since Russia's full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
