The White House was placed under a brief lockdown earlier today after a suspicious incident occurred near the front gate on the North Lawn.
According to a source familiar with the matter, an unidentified object was reportedly thrown over the White House fence, prompting a swift response from the U.S. Secret Service. As a precaution, authorities locked down the surrounding park area and shut off access to Pennsylvania Avenue.
Just before noon, agents quickly moved members of the press into the briefing room without offering immediate details about the situation. The lockdown lasted for approximately 30 minutes before the Secret Service issued an all-clear, allowing normal activity to resume.
No further information has been released about the nature of the object or the individual involved, and the White House has yet to comment.
The incident comes just days after the first anniversary of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania — a reminder of ongoing security concerns surrounding high-profile locations.
