The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the UK Embassy in Bahrain, organised the Reports of the International Committee on the Rights of the Child workshop.

The workshop was inaugurated by Ambassador HE Yusuf Abdulkarim Bucheeri, the Director-General of Legal Affairs and Human Rights at the Ministry, and was presented by Paula Jack and Stephen Burnside of the Northern Ireland Cooperation Overseas (NICO).

Bucheeri affirmed Bahrain’s progress in the human rights field and children’s rights in particular under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He highlighted the ministry’s efforts in building capacity and qualifying expertise in human rights, and the role of the National Human Rights Committee, led by HE Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, in implementing and following up on international human rights reports, particularly on children’s rights.

He lauded the cooperation of civil and governmental entities in ensuring the implementation of the recommendations and protocols of international conventions on children’s rights. The best practices in writing United Nations reports and the new procedures adopted by the Human Rights Council for reporting were reviewed.
