Coast Guard seizes banned trawling nets

Coast Guard Command patrols have seized 10 banned trawling nets on five boats, according to Coast Guard commander Rear Admiral Alaa Abdullah Siyadi. The operation is part of the Coast Guard’s efforts to address violations related to fishing and the gear being illegally used in its practice.
The Coast Guard commander stressed the need for sailors to abide by laws regulating fishing, which have been put in place in order to protect the marine environment and preserve the Kingdom’s wealth of marine life.
He noted that sea and land campaigns are continuing to arrest violators and take the necessary measures against them. The Coast Guard commander added that following the seizures, the related legal procedures have been launched.
