Indian School Meeting Sparks Parent Dispute

The United Parents Panel (UPP) strongly urged the current leadership of The Indian School Bahrain not to undermine the institution’s constitution or sideline parents, who are its true stakeholders. The demand was made during a press conference in Manama ahead of the upcoming Special General Body Meeting.

UPP leaders alleged mystery and lack of transparency behind convening the meeting with only 7 days’ notice instead of the mandatory 10-day notice period. They also questioned the inclusion of four major agendas in a meeting typically reserved for a single issue.

Addressing the proposal to secure an independent Commercial Registration (CR) for the school, UPP stressed that such a critical decision required thorough consultation with all parents. They declared that an outgoing committee whose tenure is ending soon should not be allowed to apply for a license under individual names.

Furthermore, UPP criticized the committee’s rush to initiate new building construction while still struggling to disburse staff and teacher salaries regularly, calling it proof of financial mismanagement and poor planning. They demanded the immediate notification of school elections under the existing constitution, insisting that constitutional amendments and CR matters be left to the incoming management.

Meanwhile, the Progressive Parents Alliance (PPA) issued a press release urging all parents to actively participate in the Special General Body Meeting. PPA highlighted that the meeting serves as a vital platform for parents to gain clarity on key issues affecting their children’s education and the school’s future.
