Hottest September recorded in Bahrain since 1902

ManamaThe Meteorological Directorate (BMD) monthly weather summary said that the month of September 2017 goes on record as the hottest September ever experienced in Bahrain since 1902.

The mean temperature of the month was 34.6 C which is 2.2 C above the long-term normal and goes on record as the highest mean monthly temperature for September since 1902. This breaks the old record of 34.5 C which was recorded in September 1998 and 2015.

The mean maximum temperature of the month was 39.1 C which is 2.6 C above the long term normal and goes on record as the highest mean maximum temperature for September since 1946 with the old record being 38.8 C which was recorded in September2015.

The highest temperature during the month was 44.1 C which was recorded on the 3rd of September at Bahrain International Airport. This goes on record as the fourth highest maximum temperature for September since 1946 and which was only exceeded on the 4th of September 2013 with a temperature of 45.5 C, 2nd of September 2016 at 45.3 C, and 11th of September 2008 at 45.0 C. 

During the month, Bahrain had 10 days with maximum temperatures exceeding 40 C.
