Kingdom will boost its oil and gas sector: Deputy PM

ManamaBahrain’s highly developed infrastructure is one of the most important factors responsible for the tremendous success enjoyed by the Kingdom in the Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions(MICE) sector, Deputy Prime Minister HH Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa stated during the 20th Middle East Oil and Gas Show and Conference(MEOS).

Addressing the participants and guests at MEOS, a major international conference held at Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre, the Deputy Premier noted that such conferences reflects Bahrain’s success as a MICE destination. HH Shaikh Ali was speaking after the inauguration of the conference on Tuesday.

The event, held under the patronage of Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, brought together leading experts in oil and gas industry from around the world. 

“Despite the challenges brought about by the dip in oil prices, the sector still has been key to economic growth. The oil sector plays a huge role and will remain key in the development of the economy. Bahrain will boost the sector by adopting the latest technologies and and best practices,”  Shaikh Ali who attended the event on behalf of the Prime Minister said.

A session ‘Energy Economics: What’s Next?’ will be held at 11am today. Another panel discussion titled ‘Academic/Vocational and Industry Collaboration: Are We Doing Enough?’ will be held from 1:30pm to 3pm.

The speakers include Bain and Company Senior Advisor Rob Fisher, Saudi Aramco Manager of Technology Strategy & Planning Bashir Dabbousi, King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center Program Director Axel Pierru and The Boston Consulting Group EPG Executive Advisor, Oil & Gas Sector Marcus T. Richards.
