Four men jailed for abduction of women

ManamaFour Bahraini men accused of kidnapping three women have been convicted by the High Criminal Court. One of them was sentenced to 18 years in prison while the remaining trio were handed down 15 years in prison each.

The defendants were reportedly convinced to break into the apartment of the women by a Bangladeshi man, who also received five years in prison, followed by deportation.

The Bangladeshi man offered BD100 to the four defendants, who are in their early twenties, to kidnap the Indonesian women to use them for illegal activities.

He guided them to the building where the Indonesian women’s apartment was located. But the defendants accidently barged into a wrong apartment where they found three Filipino women and a man.

They posed as police officers and stole cash and other valuables of the victims. Two of the Filipino women were forced  to accompany them in their car, to a local beach, where they were sexually assaulted.

The women were set free later, after the defendants found out they had kidnapped the wrong persons.

The police arrested the defendants after the Bangladeshi man filed a case against the kidnappers, demanding  refund.
