Citizens’ rights will be protected, assure MPs

MP Hamad Al Dosari confirmed that the House of Representatives had been working hard to not intervene with the rights and earnings of citizens under the circumstances experienced by the Kingdom due to the decline in oil prices and consequent measures in that respect.

During His Excellency’s Council in Budaiya yesterday, the Finance Committee Chairman, MP Abdulrahman Bu Ali assured that citizens’ rights were protected and that the Council would work sincerely to prevent the imposition of fees on citizens.

MP Bu Ali stated that the removal of subsidies on the prices of electricity and water would be addressed to foreigners only, and that citizens will not be affected.

He referred to some sources, which spoke of the allocation of one house per citizen where subsidies will not be lifted, meaning the removal of subsidies will be on citizens who own more than one house.

He clarified that there were measures taken by the House of Representatives in order to legislate and maintain the projects, ensuring their implementation, routinely holding those negligent to account, and directing parliamentary questions to the Ministers to unveil all mysteries and get appropriate responses to them.

The audience touched on a number of issues, which were answered by the MPs.
