Hungary raids Orban's Fidesz party servers in graft probe

Budapest: Hungarian prosecutors raided the data servers of former Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s Fidesz party on Tuesday as part of an expanding criminal corruption investigation.
Unannounced investigators targeted the data center hosting Fidesz’s servers to seize the party’s entire communications system and databases. Prosecutor officials confirmed the operation relates to an ongoing embezzlement investigation into the National Cultural Fund.
The raid marks the latest move by newly elected Prime Minister Peter Magyar, whose pro-European Tisza party won a parliamentary majority in April on promises of tackling endemic corruption. Authorities previously uncovered over 1,079 illegal grants worth $54 million issued by the fund to Orban's inner circle.
Six individuals, including a prominent former Fidesz politician, have already been taken into custody in connection with the scandal. Fidesz strongly condemned the raid as an unprecedented autocratic action since the fall of communism.
