TEHRAN: An Iranian official has warned that Tehran may escalate its nuclear program to 90% uranium enrichment, the level required for nuclear weapons if the country faces further attacks from the United States or Israel. Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesman for the parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, stated that this "weapons-grade" shift is currently under review by the parliament as a strategic defensive option.
Iran has already enriched uranium to 60% purity, a level that experts say can be rapidly advanced to 90%. While Iranian officials previously described their nuclear goals as negotiable, this latest rhetoric signals a hardening stance amidst ongoing regional conflict. International observers remain concerned, as current stockpiles are reportedly sufficient to produce multiple nuclear devices if fully enriched.
