MANILA :The Philippines and Paraguay have signed a landmark Visa Waiver Agreement, allowing ordinary passport holders to travel between the two nations without a visa. The agreement was signed on May 11, during Paraguayan President Santiago Peña Palacios' historic state visit to Manila, where he met with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

This deal is designed to bolster tourism, business, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, which have maintained diplomatic ties for 63 years. Alongside the visa waiver, officials also inked a memorandum of understanding to enhance diplomatic cooperation and training.

President Marcos hinted at a reciprocal visit to Paraguay in the near future to further deepen bilateral relations. Specific details regarding the implementation date and stay duration are expected to be announced soon.
