Bahrain is world’s 34th highest consumer of tobacco products

Bahrain has been ranked 34th in the world’s top 40 countries that have the highest smoking rate, according to the latest figures released by the World Population Review. The statistics show that 28.2% of Bahrain’s population are smokers, 48.4% of them are male, while 7.6% of the women’s population are consuming tobacco products.
Among the countries that have the most tobacco consumption rate in the Arab world, Bahrain came third behind Jordan and Lebanon, which have been ranked first and second, respectively.
Bahrain imported tobacco products valued at BD1.6 million in June this year. These products are ranked 24th among the most important 50 products the Kingdom’s imports. The ranking was decided based on the percentage of smokers compared to the population in each country
