Maintenance works nearing completion

ManamaMajority of the houses damaged in a terror attack on an oil pipeline near Buri village have been reconstructed, said the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry in a statement.

“The ministry has completed the maintenance works of 19 houses out of the 27 damaged in the attack with overall progress rate exceeding 85 percent,” said Essam Khalaf, the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning. 

The move follows directives issued by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister to repair the houses damaged in the attack.

The project executed in four phases, with the first comprising four houses, the second 12, the third seven and fourth four.

The first phase, which started on 14 November, was meant for badly damaged houses. Two houses were completed, while one of the homeowners was compensated. Works are progressing fast on the third, the minister said. 

In the second phase, meant for the least damaged houses, 11 houses have been reconstructed. Work is underway to complete the 12th.

In the third and fourth phases, maintenance works have been completed in six houses.
