Bahrain Ministry and UNIDO Discuss Transport
Manama, 11 May (BNA) — Mrs. Fatima Abdullah Al-Zaan, Representative of the Ministry of Transport and Communications for Road Transport and Post, received Dr. Hashim Hussein, Head of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Regional Office for Investment and Technology in Bahrain.
The meeting was held within the framework of strengthening mutual cooperation between both sides in the fields of road transport, economic development, and support for innovation and entrepreneurship.
During the discussions, the Ministry representative praised the important role played by the UNIDO regional office in Bahrain, highlighting its initiatives and programmes that contribute to improving the business environment, supporting industrial development, and fostering entrepreneurship at both local and regional levels.
Dr. Hashim Hussein marked the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the UNIDO Regional Office in Bahrain, as well as the 25th anniversary of the launch of the Bahrain Entrepreneurship Development and Investment Programme (EDIP), describing it as one of the organization’s key initiatives supporting entrepreneurs and start-ups.
The two sides discussed prospects for enhanced cooperation in the road transport sector, particularly in supporting start-ups, SMEs, and entrepreneurs working in the field. They emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise and developing initiatives that promote innovation, sustainability, and improved efficiency in logistics and transport services.
Both parties also underlined the importance of continued coordination to create quality opportunities for start-ups, support the transition toward smart and sustainable transport solutions, and align with Bahrain’s development goals while enhancing the sector’s competitiveness at regional and international levels.
