Dubai's Raju Omlet founder Rajiv Meherish passes away

Dunai: Rajiv Meherish, the Indian-born founder and CEO of Dubai-based restaurant chain Raju Omlet, died at the age of 67 from illness. Meherish, widely regarded as a pioneering culinary entrepreneur in the UAE, founded Raju Omlet in 2013, developing a simple egg-based concept into one of Dubai's most well-known domestic restaurant brands.

Meherish, a commerce postgraduate from Mumbai University, moved to Dubai in 1980 to start his career as a sales professional. He later spent several years selling media space to major English and Arabic publications. He joined the publishing industry after quitting the media in 1989, working on significant projects for companies like Emirates Airline, Dubai Duty Free, Dubai Shopping Festival, the Department of Civil Aviation, Dubai Municipality, DEWA, and Dubai Chamber.

Meherish founded Raju Omlet with the goal of redefining cosy meals made with eggs, drawing on decades of commercial experience. Under his direction, the company grew from one location to seven locations throughout Dubai, gaining a devoted fanbase for its creative menu and retro-inspired dining experience. He had also expressed plans to take the brand beyond the UAE and build it into a global franchise. The company has announced that all Raju Omlet outlets would continue to open, carrying on his legacy.
