Bahrain set for Arab U18 medal hunt

Bahrain’s under-18 athletics team have departed for Cairo, Egypt, to compete in the 12th Arab U18 Athletics Championships, which get underway tomorrow.
The five-day competition runs until September 9 at the Olympic Center for Training National Teams and brings together young athletes from across the Arab world.
The programme includes a wide range of track and field events: sprints, middle and long-distance races, hurdles, steeplechase, jumps and throws, along with race walking, combined events and sprint medley relays.
Bahrain head to Cairo following a strong showing at the 21st Arab Youth Athletics Championships in Rades, Tunisia, in May, where they collected eight medals.
The kingdom won five gold and three silver medals to finish third overall and as the highest-ranked GCC nation.
