French Teen Faces Jail in Singapore Over Viral Straw-Licking Stunt

Singapore : A French teenager studying in Singapore is set to enter a plea next month after being charged over a viral video showing him putting a straw he had licked back into an orange juice vending machine dispenser.
Didier Gaspard Owen Maximilien, who turned 19 on Thursday, faces charges of causing a public nuisance and committing mischief over the March incident, which sparked public outrage and led to his arrest.
Prosecutors said the teenager posted the video on social media knowing it would likely cause public annoyance. Authorities also allege that the vending machine operator had to replace all 500 straws in the dispenser because of the incident.
Maximilien, who is out on bail, is expected to enter his plea on July 13. If convicted, he could face up to two years in prison and a fine.
