‘One Battle After Another’ Dominates 2026 Academy Awards

The Academy Awards celebrated the biggest achievements in global cinema, with One Battle After Another emerging as the biggest winner of the night.
The film secured the top honor for Best Picture, while its director Paul Thomas Anderson also won Best Director. Anderson further added to the film’s success by taking home the award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
In the acting categories, Jessie Buckley won Best Actress for her performance in Hamnet, while Michael B. Jordan received Best Actor for his role in Sinners.
Supporting acting honors went to Amy Madigan, who won Best Supporting Actress for Weapons, and Sean Penn, who secured Best Supporting Actor for his performance in One Battle After Another.
In the writing categories, filmmaker Ryan Coogler won Best Original Screenplay for Sinners, which also earned the award for Best Original Score composed by Ludwig Göransson.
Among other major winners, KPop Demon Hunters won Best Animated Feature and also took home Best Original Song for “Golden.” The Best International Feature award went to Sentimental Value, while Mr Nobody Against Putin won Best Documentary Feature.
A historic moment came when cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw won Best Cinematography for Sinners, becoming the first woman and the first woman of color to receive the award in the category.
Other technical awards included Best Film Editing for One Battle After Another, won by Andy Jurgensen, Best Sound for F1, and Best Visual Effects for Avatar: Fire and Ash.
The ceremony highlighted a mix of critically acclaimed dramas, blockbuster productions and international cinema, reflecting the diversity and evolving storytelling in the film industry.
