Bahrain is committed to bolstering Gulf integration in political, security, and defense affairs, while also aiming to fortify the strategic partnership with the European Union and the international community.

This was affirmed by His Excellency Ambassador Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Qurainis, Head of the European Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as he spearheaded the Kingdom’s delegation at the inaugural meeting of the Regional Security Dialogue between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the European Union.

The high-level gathering took place at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the GCC in Riyadh, in line with the resolutions of the Gulf-European Ministerial Meeting held in Muscat during its twenty-seventh session last October.

Key discussions during the meeting encompassed strategic cooperation between the Gulf and European entities, touching upon regional security, counterterrorism efforts, combatting extremist ideology, human trafficking, drug smuggling, maritime and cyber security, energy security, global food supplies, nuclear non-proliferation, disaster preparedness, and emergency management.

Additionally, the meeting included deliberations on the situation in the Gaza Strip, as well as regional developments in the Middle East, the Horn of Africa, and Ukraine.

Peaceful resolution Ambassador Al-Qurainis underscored the importance of peaceful conflict resolution, prioritising the cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip, protection of civilians, and addressing their humanitarian needs.

He further advocated for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution and international legitimacy resolutions.

Additionally, he emphasised the need for international cooperation to ensure the secure flow of international navigation and trade, thereby preserving global peace and security
