Indian Embassy in Bahrain celebrates 75th Republic Day

The Indian Embassy in Bahrain hosted a flag-hoisting ceremony yesterday (January 26) to commemorate India's 75th Republic Day. Nearly 1500 members of the Indian community attended the ceremony, as well as diplomatic officials headed by Ambassador H.E. Vinod K. Jacob. The ceremony at the embassy's Seef premises began with a floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, considered by India as the 'Father of the Nation.'

The Ambassador unfurled the National Flag, followed by the attendees singing the National Anthem, accompanied by the band from The Indian School Bahrain. Mr. Jacob then read out the excerpt of Indian President Droupadi Murmu's message delivered on the eve of Republic Day. The Ambassador thanked the Indian community and friends of India for joining the celebration. A cultural programme, including patriotic songs and dance performances, was presented by members of the Indian community.

Meanwhile, on the eve of Republic Day, the embassy hosted a reception at The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Manama. Bahrain's Foreign Affairs Minister, H.E. Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his speech, he congratulated the Indian government and its people on the occasion of the 75th Republic Day. He also affirmed the depth of the distinguished, deep-rooted bilateral relations as well as the two countries’ constant keenness to enhance their ties.

This event was also attended by the heads of several diplomatic missions in Bahrain, senior Bahrain government officials, and prominent members of the Indian and Bahraini communities. They were entertained by traditional dance and music performances, including the Garba dance, marking the inclusion of the art form in UNESCO’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The Bahrain Interior Ministry's band played the National Anthems of India and Bahrain.

This was followed by a dinner reception offering a culinary journey through different regions of India, which also included a coffee corner showcasing various varieties of Indian coffee and India’s rich coffee culture. A dedicated defence corner was set up to showcase the country’s latest achievements and innovations in defence technology. An Attar corner featured an array of distinctive Attar varieties from the renowned district of Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh.
