HRH visits Bapco refinery, praises workforce and energy sector resilience
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, visited the Bapco refinery, where His Royal Highness conveyed the greetings and appreciation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to all employees of Bapco Energies.
His Royal Highness was welcomed by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bapco Energies.
During the visit, His Royal Highness expressed his pride in the dedicated efforts of Shaikh Nasser and Bapco Energies personnel, commending their competence, capabilities and sense of national responsibility.
He praised the workforce’s efforts to maintain operational continuity, ensure the efficiency of Bahrain’s energy system and safeguard the continuity of supply chains. These efforts, he noted, contribute to strengthening the security of the energy sector and its role as a vital pillar of the national economy amid the challenges posed by what was described as hostile Iranian aggression against Bahrain.
His Royal Highness also commended the developmental initiatives and strategic projects undertaken by Bapco Energies and its subsidiaries, noting their contribution to improving the efficiency and competitiveness of the Kingdom’s energy sector.
He emphasised that the progress achieved by Bahrain’s energy sector over the past decades reflects an ambitious national vision that recognises its pivotal role in supporting economic development.
The national workforce, His Royal Highness noted, has been central to this progress, with its expertise and capabilities helping develop the sector, strengthen its infrastructure and increase its contribution to the national economy.
During the tour, His Royal Highness met with the Board of Directors and Executive Management of Bapco Energies and expressed his pride in the talented individuals across the company and its subsidiaries.
He thanked employees for their important role in advancing Bahrain’s energy ecosystem and enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability.
His Royal Highness stressed that investment in human capital remains fundamental to developing the skills and expertise needed to achieve the objectives of the energy sector.
He also highlighted Bahrain’s long history in the oil and refining industry, noting that Bapco was established in 1929, with refining operations beginning in the 1930s. The company has continued to develop and modernise through the efforts of its national workforce.
The importance of building on this foundation was also emphasised, particularly through initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency, sustainability and competitiveness of the sector.
During the tour, His Royal Highness was briefed on the refinery’s operations and modernisation programme, as well as its key projects, initiatives and development plans.
He also reviewed efforts to enhance the security of oil facilities and strengthen their preparedness to address various challenges, ensuring operational continuity and the sustainability of energy supplies.
His Royal Highness met with Bapco employees and commended them for carrying out their duties with responsibility and competence under all circumstances.
He underscored the importance of continuing strategic projects that contribute to the development of the energy sector, while expanding the adoption of advanced technologies and innovative solutions to improve operational efficiency.
The importance of exploring promising investment opportunities was also highlighted, with such opportunities expected to support the growth and competitiveness of the energy sector, strengthen Bahrain’s position and create high-quality opportunities for its people.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the visit and tour of the Bapco refinery.
He noted that the tour reflects the Kingdom’s continued attention to the refinery’s operations and support for the national workforce responsible for its management and operation.
HH Shaikh Nasser also emphasised the support provided to Bahrain’s energy sector during challenging circumstances, particularly in light of what he described as hostile Iranian aggression.
He said this support contributed to strengthening rapid-response efforts and ensuring the continuity of Bapco Energies’ operations.
He further praised the recognition given to employees who contributed to addressing the repercussions of recent developments, noting that such encouragement provides motivation to continue fulfilling their responsibilities with determination, dedication and efficiency.
The Crown Prince and Prime Minister was accompanied by His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister; His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Court; His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy; and a number of senior officials.
