Baltic Knight shines in race

Manama : Third favourite Baltic Knight owned by Al Afoo Racing Stable, trained by Mohammed Hassan and ridden by Alberto Sanna won the sixth race of the seven-race opening meeting yesterday for The Late HH Shaikh Rashid bin Isa Al Khalifa Cup at the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club in Sakhir.

Second place a length and a half behind was pre-race favourite, Thorkhill Star owned by Al Nasseriyeh, trained by Allan Smith and ridden by Brett Doyle, followed behind in third by a head was Silversmith owned by Al Mallah Syndicate, trained by Jalil Al Mallah and ridden by Stephane Ladjadj.

Fourth place a further six lengths behind was Mantoba owned by S Jaafar Alawi, trained by Jalil Al Mallah and ridden by Stephane Ladjadj.

A prize purse of BD34,500 was up for grabs with the richest race being the sixth worth BD7,500 over 1,600 metres for imported three year olds and upwards.
