His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa paid an inspection visit to the late Shaikha Moza bint Hamad Al Khalifa Mosque in Riffa yesterday. During the inspection, he was informed about the latest preparations ahead of its inauguration.

Built according to the traditional Bahraini architectural style, the mosque includes a large hall for big events and other service facilities.

The 3,000-square metre two-storey mosque is equipped with a lift to ensure the comfort of worshippers. The inauguration is expected within the next few days.

The state-of-the-art mosque can accommodate up to 2,000 worshippers, including 950 in the two floors, 850 in the courtyard and 250 in the women’s hall.

HRH the Prime Minister said that building mosques was one of the best righteous and benevolent deeds. Touring the mosque, HRH Premier inspected its installations and facilities, including the main Musalla (prayer hall), the outside Musalla and events hall.

The project’s architect briefed HRH Premier on its design and construction stages. HRH the Prime Minister remarked that houses of worship should preserve their role as places for worship, reverence and compassion.

“Their pulpits should be used to strengthen cohesion and solidarity. Religious platforms should assume their roles in promoting the values of fraternity and love, as well as dedication in the service of the homeland,” he reminded.

He highlighted the government’s keen interest in expanding mosques and building new ones, especially in the new urban areas, giving their importance in allowing Muslims to perform their prayers, a basic pillar of Islam.
