The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) has strongly condemned the continued Iranian attacks targeting the Kingdom of Bahrain, describing them as a serious violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In a statement, the institution said it is closely monitoring the developments and warned that the attacks pose a significant threat to national security and social stability. It noted that the assaults directly endanger the rights of citizens and residents, particularly the fundamental rights to life, personal security and physical safety, which are protected under international human rights conventions and agreements.

Referring to an earlier statement on the situation, the NIHR said the continued escalation and repeated attacks constitute a clear breach of international law and the principles of the Charter of the United Nations, including respect for state sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs and the prohibition of the threat or use of force.

The institution added that such actions demonstrate a dangerous disregard for international obligations aimed at protecting civilians and preserving regional peace and stability. It warned that the attacks increase the risk of harm to lives, property and civilian infrastructure.

The NIHR stressed that protecting civilians and ensuring their safety is both a legal duty under international human rights law and a responsibility enshrined in the UN Charter. It said any actions that threaten public security, spread fear among communities or undermine stability represent violations of fundamental rights and freedoms and require a decisive international response that ensures accountability and prevents impunity.

The institution called on the international community, particularly the United Nations and its relevant human rights, peace and security bodies, to fulfil their legal and moral responsibilities by taking urgent and effective measures to halt the attacks. It also urged international organisations to monitor the human rights impact of the escalation, ensure adherence to international law and prevent the recurrence of violations that threaten regional security and undermine fundamental rights.

The NIHR expressed appreciation for the efforts undertaken by Bahrain’s state institutions in responding to the exceptional circumstances and for the measures implemented to protect citizens and residents while maintaining security and stability.

The institution noted that these efforts reflect the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to safeguard the Kingdom’s interests and strengthen national unity in the face of threats and aggression.

It further stated that the actions taken by the competent authorities demonstrate a high level of efficiency and institutional responsibility, grounded in the rule of law and respect for national and international human rights standards.

According to the NIHR, the measures seek to balance national security requirements with the protection of public rights and freedoms, ensuring the continued preservation of social stability while safeguarding Bahrain’s achievements and national accomplishments.
