Gulf Air Restores Full Network Operations and Unveils Plans for Future Growth
Gulf Air has successfully restored 100% of its operational network following the reopening of regional airspace, marking a significant milestone in the national carrier's recovery efforts after a period of disruption.
Speaking during an interview with Al Ayam Editor-in-Chief Rashid Al Hamr, Gulf Air Chief Executive Officer Martin Gauss confirmed that all destinations have resumed service and that the airline is now focused on rebuilding booking levels and revenues to reach pre-crisis performance.
Gauss revealed that during the extraordinary period when Gulf Air operated from King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, the airline transported nearly 60,000 passengers and maintained direct services to 13 destinations. In addition, the carrier successfully delivered more than 2,000 tonnes of essential cargo, including food supplies, medical equipment, and other critical goods to Bahrain.
He described the operation as a unique achievement within the global aviation industry, highlighting the resilience and adaptability demonstrated by the airline and its teams throughout the crisis.
The Gulf Air CEO also expressed deep appreciation for the support extended by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership, aviation authorities, and King Fahd International Airport. He noted that the exceptional cooperation enabled Gulf Air to continue serving passengers and maintaining vital supply chains despite the closure of Bahrain's airspace.
According to Gauss, the decision to relocate operations to Dammam evolved through ongoing crisis management efforts led by dedicated Bahraini teams working around the clock to ensure uninterrupted service and operational continuity.
Looking ahead, Gulf Air is preparing a long-term strategic plan that will be announced following official approval. One of the key objectives of the strategy is to strengthen the association between Gulf Air and the Kingdom of Bahrain on the global stage while leveraging the airline's network to support national economic growth, tourism development, and the Kingdom's international presence.
The restoration of full operations and the airline's successful management of the crisis underscore Gulf Air's commitment to maintaining connectivity, supporting Bahrain's economy, and reinforcing its position as a leading regional carrier.
