Protect Religious Neutrality

Speaking in a statement, MP Jameel Mulla Hassan said the minister’s comments reflected a responsible national approach aimed at safeguarding Bahrain’s social cohesion and preventing the politicisation of religious institutions.
He said the Interior Minister had been clear in describing the concept of Wilayat al-Faqih as a political project presented within a religious framework, stressing that religious platforms should remain free from political agendas and from loyalties extending beyond national borders.
The MP added that the minister’s remarks underscored the importance of loyalty to Bahrain, its leadership and its constitutional institutions, while warning against the use of religion to advance political objectives.
Jameel Mulla Hassan also referred to the minister’s disclosure about a recently uncovered network that had allegedly been operating covertly to influence Bahrain’s religious and sectarian landscape in favour of external interests.
