A stinking problem

The menace of overflowing gutter haunts again Road 341 in Manama 304

Manama

The passersby and staff of offices on Road 341 in Manama 304 are having a hard time as the menace of overflowing gutters continue to haunt the area. Being rectified several times, the problem keeps on reappearing sometime after the maintenance works.

The locals claim that every time the issue was reported, it takes at least three days for the concerned personnel to come and sort it out. “There should be a permanent solution for this problem,” an employee of a nearby office told DT News on the condition of anonymity.

“This is a busy area and witness traffic the whole day. The overflowing drainage water is so dirty that those who come in contact with it has to fear that possibility of catching water borne diseases. It is high time to sort out the issue and put a full stop to it,” he said.

Another employee at a nearby shop claimed that the drainage water is making the area stink severely which led to a drop in the number of their customers. He said that they requested the concerned authorities to please solve this issue once and for all.

The source of the problem is a gutter inside the building of old Capital Hotel, which is covered just like the sites under construction for the last five years. The place is at the back of Yateem Centre and many tourists also walk past this place.
