Bahrain hosted the 9th Extraordinary Meeting of GCC Industry Undersecretaries, bringing together officials from Gulf Cooperation Council member states to discuss strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening industrial cooperation and economic integration across the region.

Eman Ahmed Al Doseri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, underscored the importance of the meeting’s agenda in enhancing the competitiveness of the Gulf industrial sector and advancing industrial integration in line with the objectives of the GCC Common Market.

She noted that recent regional and international developments, along with exceptional circumstances affecting the region, have highlighted the need to strengthen the resilience of Gulf supply chains and enhance coordination among member states to ensure the uninterrupted flow of goods and national products.

Al Doseri emphasised the importance of removing obstacles that could impact trade exchange and industrial integration, reinforcing the GCC’s collective ability to respond to economic challenges.

The meeting reviewed several key agenda items, including a proposal related to localisation criteria for industrial sectors within the definition of a GCC national product and the implementation plan for goods subject to collective protection measures.

The discussions formed part of ongoing efforts to develop a more integrated and competitive Gulf industrial system, supporting sustainable economic growth and strengthening the GCC’s position as a unified economic and industrial hub.
