Bahrain MPs Act as ‘Voice of the People’ During Crisis

MP Ahmed Al Salloom, Chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, has reaffirmed Parliament’s full support for the government’s actions amid the exceptional circumstances facing Bahrain and the wider region.

Al Salloom stated that Parliament stands firmly behind every step and decision taken by the government, emphasizing that lawmakers are committed to providing the necessary legislative backing and shaping policies required at this critical stage.

He highlighted that Parliament’s role extends beyond domestic support, pointing to its active engagement in parliamentary diplomacy. Through its connections with international parliaments, Bahrain has been able to communicate its position, explain its decisions, and build broader global understanding.

According to Al Salloom, these diplomatic efforts are beginning to yield results, with an increasing number of countries expressing support for Bahrain’s stance and the broader regional position.

Addressing the role of Parliament during the crisis, Al Salloom stressed that it serves as the “voice of the people” and reflects public sentiment. He noted that every statement, decision, and show of support by Parliament represents not individual views but the collective stance of the nation.

He added that these positions are recognized and respected by friendly nations and international parliamentary bodies, which, in turn, relay them to their respective governments—helping shape wider international support for Bahrain.
