Cybersecurity Experts Examine AI Workplace Risks

The forum focused on protecting data and information and reducing cybersecurity risks associated with the growing use of AI technologies across different sectors.

Sheikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Chief Executive of the National Cybersecurity Centre, and Dr. Ahmed Abdulhameed Al Shaikh, Chief Executive of BIBF, attended the event along with employees from government and private-sector organisations.

The forum was organised as AI technologies continue to expand across various sectors, supporting operations, developing services, analysing data and assisting decision-making.

It also highlighted the importance of building institutional and professional awareness to ensure AI is used in ways that support information security and privacy protection.

The programme included a panel discussion titled “AI in the Workplace: Between Opportunities and Risks”, moderated by Noor Sameer Shwaiter, Head of Cybersecurity Awareness at the National Cybersecurity Centre.

The panel brought together experts and specialists from government, private-sector and security bodies, including Dr. Khalid Ahmed Al Mutawa, Zahra Hussain Murad, Major Dr. Mohammed Al Abdullah, Nora Yaseen Al Balushi and Huda Hilal Al Mahayza.

The discussion examined the future of AI in the workplace, institutional governance of AI use and its role in supporting decision-making. It also addressed developments involving virtual employees and agentic systems, and the institutional readiness and cybersecurity awareness required to manage them.
