Bahrain Condemns Iranian Missile Attacks at UN Security Council

The Kingdom of Bahrain strongly condemned the recent missile attacks targeting its territory and other Gulf states during an emergency session of the UN Security Council.

Ambassador Jamal Faris Al-Ruwai, Bahrain’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, spoke on behalf of Bahrain, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, Jordan, and Syria. He highlighted the gravity of the attacks and reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to international law and regional peace.

“On behalf of the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain, we strongly condemn the missile attacks targeting vital facilities and residential areas inside Bahrain on Saturday, launched by the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has claimed responsibility for these attacks,” Ambassador Al-Ruwai said. “These actions violate our sovereignty, endanger our citizens, and flagrantly breach international law and the UN Charter.”

The ambassador emphasized that the attacks were part of a broader pattern in the region, with missiles targeting the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, and Syria. “These grave developments reflect an escalatory pattern threatening our collective security,” he added.

Bahrain holds Iran fully responsible for the attacks, rejecting any justifications for these hostile acts. The country reaffirmed its right to respond in a manner commensurate with the scale of the aggression, under Article 51 of the UN Charter, and in coordination with international partners.

“These attacks also caused injuries to civilians, the death of at least one person, and damage to critical civilian infrastructure, including aviation and maritime navigation in the region,” Ambassador Al-Ruwai noted. “Targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure is unacceptable by all international and humanitarian standards.”

The statement concluded with a call for the Security Council to adopt a firm stance to prevent recurrence of such attacks and uphold regional and international peace. Bahrain stressed that any aggression against sisterly countries is a direct threat to the security and stability of the entire region.
