19-Year-Old Held Over Online Blackmail
The Ministry of Interior said the Child Protection Unit in Cyberspace, under the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, arrested the man following a report concerning the alleged incident.
The unit immediately began investigations, gathering information and evidence, which led to identifying and arresting the suspect.
Legal procedures have been taken to refer the case to the Public Prosecution.
The Child Protection Unit urged parents to strengthen supervision of their children’s online activities and raise awareness of the risks of communicating with strangers on the internet, particularly those who may use deceptive or manipulative methods.
Parents were also advised to monitor their children’s social media use and warn them against sharing photographs or personal information with unknown individuals or entities.
