GCC Health Integration Key to Regional Security

Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh stressed the importance of strengthening integration across the GCC health system to enhance health security and support joint efforts to prevent and control diseases.

He said closer coordination among GCC countries can help develop unified health frameworks and regulations based on high standards of quality and efficiency, while improving preparedness and response to emerging health challenges.

Al Saleh made the remarks during a meeting  with Dr. Yazid Al Awahli, Adviser to the Director of the Gulf Health Council, and Dr. Manaf Mohammed Al Qahtani, Chief Executive Officer of the Gulf Centre for Disease Prevention and Control at the GCC General Secretariat.

The Shura Council chairman praised the role of the Gulf Health Council and the Gulf Centre for Disease Prevention and Control in developing GCC health cooperation, strengthening coordination and facilitating the exchange of expertise and knowledge among member states.

He highlighted the need to continue joint efforts in disease prevention and health response, particularly in light of rapid developments in the healthcare sector. He also stressed the importance of benefiting from medical expertise and successful healthcare experiences across the region.

Al Saleh also underlined the importance of developing medical and nursing skills and expanding the exchange of expertise and successful healthcare practices among GCC countries in line with regional health priorities.

He further pointed to the potential of artificial intelligence technologies to support continued progress and development across different medical fields.
