Bahrain Resolves All Pre-2017 Delayed Off-Plan Real Estate Projects

Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Developmental and Infrastructure Projects, has announced the full resolution of all delayed real estate projects in Bahrain that were sold off-plan before the 2017 Real Estate Sector Regulation Law.

The announcement comes after the public auction of the final unresolved project, “Marina West,” in late November. The Ministerial Committee confirmed that no other off-plan projects from before 2017 remain pending.

Shaikh Khalid expressed his gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for issuing Decree-Law No. 66 of 2014, which provided a legal framework to settle delayed real estate projects. He also thanked His Royal Highness Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa for the trust placed in the Ministerial Committee to oversee these projects and ensure their completion.

He added that the 2014 decree-law introduced specialized legal mechanisms, including a judicially empowered committee that reviews cases referred by the Ministerial Committee after thorough studies. This approach ensured efficient and transparent resolution, strengthened investor confidence, and supported the sustainable growth of Bahrain’s real estate sector.
