A surge in student applications has seen 95 percent of eligible candidates register for government scholarships this year, the Ministry of Education confirmed.
The figure marks the highest-ever turnout for the programme and comes as the Ministry prepares for a merit-focused meeting with top-performing students before scholarship results are announced next month. His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, said the response reflected students’ deep commitment to shaping their academic future and praised their interaction with the Scholarships and Grants Services portal.
The Ministry clarified that students still have time to apply, with the registration portal remaining open for two more months to allow applicants to secure university admission offers. Dr. Juma assured students that the Ministry would remain flexible in supporting their application process during this period.
Once the registration deadline closes, the Student Scholarships and Grants Centre will begin classifying and evaluating the applications. Scholarships will be awarded based on academic merit, with priority given to students with the highest grades.
H.E. the Minister emphasised that transparency and fairness will guide the allocation process. H.E. said the Ministry is committed to helping students meet their educational aspirations through a system grounded in equity and clarity.
In a move to recognise academic excellence, the Ministry will convene a special meeting with high-achieving students in early August, just before the official announcement of scholarship placements.
