The State of Kuwait strongly condemned an attack targeting a position affiliated with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), which resulted in the death of a peacekeeper from the Republic of Serbia and left several others injured.

In a statement issued on Friday, June 5, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s firm rejection of any actions that threaten United Nations personnel or compromise the safety of international peacekeeping missions.

The Ministry emphasized the importance of ensuring the protection of UN forces so they can effectively carry out their mandate under relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 1701, which governs the peacekeeping framework in southern Lebanon.

Kuwait also called for a transparent and thorough investigation into the incident, urging that those responsible be held fully accountable.

Extending its condolences, Kuwait expressed sympathy to the Republic of Serbia, the United Nations, and the family of the deceased peacekeeper, while also wishing a swift recovery to those injured in the attack.

The statement underscores Kuwait’s continued support for international peacekeeping efforts and its opposition to any escalation that endangers humanitarian and UN operations in conflict zones.
