Russian Drones Strike Grain Ship in Black Sea, Ukraine Says
A grain ship carrying corn was struck by two Russian drones in the Black Sea on Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, after Romanian authorities reported that a vessel had caught fire and sunk near the country’s coast.
Zelensky said the ship was a civilian vessel sailing in neutral waters and that Azerbaijani and Indian citizens were among those aboard.
Romanian authorities reported that two crew members died and 11 others were rescued after the vessel sank.
The incident is under investigation, with authorities assessing the circumstances surrounding the attack and sinking.
