In 2026, the Kingdom of Bahrain continues to strengthen its distinguished model of supporting, empowering, and advancing women, while taking globally pioneering steps to develop their capabilities and enhance their participation in the nation’s comprehensive development journey. This progress is driven by the wise vision and directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa,, and the continued support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

This steadfast support has enabled Bahraini women to successfully transition from the stages of “empowerment” and “progress” to aspiring toward leadership and excellence, making them key partners in building the modern state. This achievement is supported by the outcomes of the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women (2025–2026), titled “Bahraini Women: From Empowerment and Progress to the Pursuit of Leadership.”

The plan was launched by the Supreme Council for Women, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King. It is based on a range of initiatives and programs aimed at enhancing women’s leadership locally and strengthening their competitiveness and prominence at the regional and international levels across various vital and influential sectors.

The Numbers Speak for Themselves

Official statistics released by the Supreme Council for Women for 2025 and the first half of 2026 provide a clear picture of the status of Bahraini women across different sectors. The figures reflect significant progress in sustaining women’s capabilities as valuable partners in nation-building and demonstrate the direct impact of national equal-opportunity policies aligned with the objectives of the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women.

The data also highlights a fundamental transformation in women’s roles. Participation is no longer measured merely by numbers; instead, it reflects the qualitative impact of support and empowerment in key sectors, including politics, diplomacy, finance, the economy, and development.

A comprehensive analysis of the key statistics issued by the Supreme Council for Women and published by the Bahrain News Agency indicates important insights into the status of Bahraini women in 2025 across several major sectors.
