mail@newsofbahrain.com

British Airways flight BA295, operating from London Heathrow to Chicago O’Hare, declared an emergency while flying over Ireland on Monday and turned back towards the UK, according to flight-tracking data and media reports.

The Boeing 777-200ER transmitted the internationally recognised 7700 emergency code while over Ireland. The aircraft also descended to around 9,000 feet during the incident, according to flight-tracking data.

The aircraft subsequently changed course and began returning towards London Heathrow rather than continuing its scheduled transatlantic journey to Chicago.

The reason for the emergency has not been officially confirmed by British Airways.

The incident remains under development, with further details expected.
