Nigeria military aircraft crashes with 32 people on board
A Nigerian Air Force aircraft crashed in southwestern Nigeria’s Ondo state on Monday while carrying 32 people, including 25 passengers and seven crew members, authorities said.
Air force spokesman Ehimen Ejodame said the aircraft was on a routine mission from Benin City to Lagos when it crashed near Igbokoda in Ondo state.
Nigeria’s Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo said preliminary information indicated that 25 passengers and seven crew members were on board.
The wreckage was located near a naval base, according to the aviation minister.
Search and rescue operations are underway, with military personnel working alongside emergency response agencies and other relevant authorities.
Footage circulating on social media showed rescuers searching an area near a river by boat.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known, and authorities had not provided further details on casualties.
