Bahrain Revokes Citizenship of 69 Individuals

The Ministry of Interior (MOI) has announced the revocation of Bahraini citizenship from 69 individuals, in implementation of Royal Directives issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The decision was taken as part of efforts to safeguard the Kingdom’s security and stability, and to ensure that Bahraini citizenship reflects the responsibilities and obligations it carries. Authorities stated that the individuals were found to have acted against the interests of the Kingdom and undermined its security.

According to the MOI, those affected were involved in supporting hostile Iranian activities, including colluding with foreign entities. The move was made pursuant to Article 10/3 of the Bahraini Nationality Law, following a formal submission by the Minister of Interior to the Cabinet and in accordance with established legal procedures.

The total number of individuals whose citizenship has been revoked, including dependants, stands at 69. Officials confirmed that all individuals are of non-Bahraini origin. Relevant authorities will take the necessary measures to implement the decision in line with the Kingdom’s laws.

The MOI reiterated that competent authorities will continue to ensure that Bahraini citizenship is granted only to those who uphold their duty of loyalty to the Kingdom.
