Trump to hold talks on Iran with security team: US media

WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump is convening a crucial meeting with his national security and foreign policy advisors this Monday to strategize on the Iran conflict. The discussions come as negotiations reach a critical impasse, threatening further instability in the Middle East.

The diplomatic breakdown follows a failed round of talks in Pakistan earlier this month. While Tehran proposed a new deal aimed at reopening the vital Strait of Hormuz and ending the U.S. naval blockade, Washington has officially rejected the offer. U.S. officials stated the proposal fell short of ‘red lines’ and postponed essential nuclear negotiations.

With the global economy struggling under the weight of the ongoing conflict, the administration has adopted a hardened stance. After canceling planned envoy trips, Trump signaled that the burden of diplomacy now rests on Tehran, stating, "if they want talks, they can come to us"
